International Day of Yoga

Today we are celebrating International Day of Yoga. The idea of International Yoga Day was kicked by our Hon. Prime Minister Shree Narendra Modiji, who proposed this concept in 2014, during his speech at the UN General Assembly. The draft resolution passed by India was supported by 177 nations. The first International Yoga Day was celebrated on June 21, 2015.

June 21 which is also known as the summer solstice was chosen as the International Yoga Day because it is the longest day of the year. The idea behind initiating yoga day is to spread awareness about this ancient Indian practice of yoga. Yoga is widely practiced for health and relaxation, its roots are in ancient India and are considered as an ascetic Hindu spiritual discipline practice.

Let’s have a quick look at benefits of doing Yoga

• Helps to improve body posture:-
Working for long hours not only hurt your spine at the end of the day. Certain yoga asanas will help you in improving your posture and also prevent pain in your neck and lower back.

• Increases flexibility:-
Yoga not only help you in increasing your flexibility but also let you perform many complex or difficult asanas.

Yoga will help in strengthening weak muscles of your body.
