Svadhishthana Chakra (Sacral Chakra)

In my previous blog, I shared information about Svadhishthana chakra, a close neighbour of Muladhara chakra. Let’s continue with some more information about it. Today, we will see how to balance/energize Svadhishthana chakra and what are the signs of imbalanced/blocked Svadhishthana chakra and how it impact us negatively then.

Signs of imbalanced/blocked Svadhishthana Chakra and its impact on our physical as well as mental health:-
- You may experience difficulty expressing your emotions, needs, and creativity.
- It can make you feel emotionally and physically weak.
- You may face problems like Chronic lower back pain, arthritis, depression or sexual problems etc.
- You may feel detached from one’s soul or self .
- You may get feeling of insecurity, fatigue, lack of desire.

An under-active Svadhishthana chakra affects the complete physical and mental health or wellbeing. You feels like dependent on others, an inability to cope with life’s changes.

An overactive Svadhishthana Chakra means distributing too much energy throughout the body. Anyone with an overactive Svadhishthana Chakra will be highly emotional, with a fantasizing nature, or dramatic. Experiencing emotions more deeply and extreme mood swings indicate a hypersensitive nature.

How to balance Svadhishthana chakra:-
1. Connect with Water:- Svadhishthana Chakra is associated with the water element as well as the flow. Connecting with water, such as a lake, river, or a simple shower helps promote balance in the Svadhishthana Chakra.

2. Meditation:- Meditation plays a very important role in balancing and opening all chakras. Chakra meditation techniques are very similar to general meditation techniques. Meditation helps in focusing on the positive and discarding negative thought patterns.

3.Yogasanas :- Spend time in poses with Kakasana (Crow Pose), Trikonasana (Classical Triangle Pose). Kakasana brings mental balance, focus, and improves strength in the wrists and arms. Trikonasana provides an effective stretch to the spine. Trikonasana stimulates the liver and spleen. It also increases blood flow and tones abdominal and back muscles. Regular practice of these asanas stimulates the Svadhishthana Chakra, increase core awareness, and remove fatigue.

4. Journal:- Get your feelings out on paper. Keeping journal is another powerful way to balance this chakra. Write a journal, poem or letter to yourself or some one else to express your emotions or feelings. Giving a way to our emotions is the powerful healing technique for this chakra. Journaling is a simple way to get in touch with your feelings, which will help open a blocked Svadhishthana chakra.

5. Positive affirmations:- Affirmation is a way to convert your negative energies into positive. Repeating affirmations means setting an intension to break old habits and create new ones.
  • I am creative.
  • I have boundaries protecting me.
  • I am passionate
  • I am satisfied with my passions.
  • I have an abundance of creativity.
  • I control my emotions
  • I am ready for change always.
6. Visualize orange colour:- this chakra is associated with the orange colour which stands for warmth and emotion. And so, to balance your when your Svadhishthana chakra visualize the orange colour, imagine a bright, healing orange glow filling up your entire lower abdomen when ever you meditate.

When this chakra is balanced, it radiates warmth and enables you to speak openly about your emotions. This how you can balance and energise your Svadhishthana chakra with using above techniques.
